As we continue to protest against police violence and racial injustices, have difficult conversations with our family, friends, and co-workers, and tackle our long to-do lists taking care of our mental health is more important than ever.


Take some time to prioritize your mental health by checking out this list of Black-owned mental health resources that validates, supports, and celebrates your Black Girl Magic!

  1. Balanced Black Girl:Balanced Black Girl was founded on the belief that wellness isn't one size fits all. They are here to create a safe space for women of color to have candid conversations about wellness, self-care, and self-love, with a little humor along the way.

  2. Black Emotional And Mental Health:(BEAM) is a training, movement building and grant making organization dedicated to the healing, wellness and liberation of Black and marginalized communities.

  3. Black Female Therapists: platform created by a Black woman with the purpose of making it easy to identify and locate their own therapist.

  4. Black Girls Breathing: Black Girls Breathing creates a safe space for black women to actively nurture their mental, emotional and spiritual health via meditational breathwork.

  5. Black Mental Wellness: Black Mental Wellness' mission is to provide access to evidence-based information and resources about mental health and behavioral health topics from a Black perspective, to highlight and increase the diversity of mental health professionals, and to decrease the mental health stigma in the Black community. This site is good directory of helpful mental health apps, podcasts and literature around Black mental wellness.

  6. Black Virtual Therapist Network: BEAM's online directory of licensed Black therapist who are certified to provide telemental health service.

  7. Black Zen: BZ team created this movement to remove any and all social and financial barriers that restrict black and brown communities from discovering the benefits of meditation, and to make all communities feel included and seen in the wellness space.

  8. Brown Girl Self-Care: Brown Girl Self-Care's mission is to provide revolutionary self-care resources and community to support Black women as they center their health and healing. 

  9. HerTherapySpace: Her Therapy Space is a safe haven for women, where we provide transformative therapy and counseling services in Washington, DC.

  10. Inclusive Therapists: Mental health justice movement pursuing equity and liberation through advocacy and activism providing culturally responsive licensed therapist online (also has a directory of therapists offering reduced-fee teletherapy).

  11. National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network: (NQTTCN) is a healing justice organization committed to transforming mental health for queer and transpeople of color
